Founded in 1977, Finewood has nearly five decades of experience crafting bespoke furniture for residential, hospitality, and commercial spaces across New Zealand.
Over the years, we have worked alongside interior designers, architects, and hospitality clients to produce one-off statement pieces and complete furniture suites. Throughout that growth, our purpose has remained the same:

Meet the Founder
With over 40 years in furniture manufacturing, John Rippon brought deep craftsmanship and technical expertise to Finewood when he joined the company. Under his leadership, Finewood has strengthened its reputation as a design-led manufacturing studio - trusted for precision framing, complex builds, and the ability to deliver both bespoke pieces and large-scale commercial projects with integrity. John’s focus remains clear: build it properly, innovate thoughtfully, and ensure every piece that leaves the workshop is made to endure.

All Finewood furniture is crafted in New Zealand. We combine traditional handcraft with in-house CNC precision and prioritise locally sourced timbers and fabrics wherever possible.
